Be sure to mulch your ginger. Water is very important for growing ginger; be sure to keep the soil consistently moist at all times.

When to harvest Ginger

Ginger grows by shooting out new "rhizomes" sideways underground. To harvest, carefully dig around the main ginger plant. Harvest the fresh ginger root you need, and leave the other rhizomes roots to continue growing.

How to store Ginger

Store ginger, unwashed and unpeeled, in a dry and cool location and inside of a paper bag for up to two weeks. To store ginger for longer, peel and slice the ginger before placing it in the freezer.
